Ruth Bader Ginsburg

A commemorative portrait of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg that I painted after her death. At the time of Justice Ginsburg’s death, “may her memory be a revolution” was a popular way to pay tribute to her legacy of hard-won legal battles for women’s rights. The phrase is an adaptation of traditional Jewish mourning words that originated in Israel to honor victims of domestic violence and hate crimes. In this piece, I wanted to convey the anger and action that I hoped her death would inspire in others to continue her lifelong fight for justice.
